In 2011, the consumption of AdBlue in China was about 11,000 tons, accounting for only 1% of the world's consumption of urea solution. As the national emission standard stage four has not been implemented nationwide yet, the use of SCR technology in the public transport system is only available in Beijing and Shanghai, which has not yet opened the market for AdBlue. However, with the comprehensive promotion of the diesel country IV standard, the demand for AdBlue is growing rapidly and is expected to reach 4 million to 7 million tons in 2015.
On the other hand, the market demand will increase rapidly from the amount of diesel cars ownership. In 2011, the sales of domestic heavy diesel vehicles reached 8.06 million, and 636 thousand in 2012, and 750 thousand to 760 thousand in 2013. Experts predict that the heavy-duty diesel vehicles equipped with the SCR system will grow by at least 500 thousand per year. By the end of 2015, the total number of diesel vehicles in China will reach 1.25 million, and 2.25 million theoretically by the end of 2017. According to the calculation of diesel output, the market capacity of AdBlue in China is expected to reach 7 million tons by 2018. Therefore, the rapid increase of the market size of AdBlue will become the trend of the times.
